We are saddened by the passing of our dear friend Jerry Shapiro, on April 9th, 2024. We dearly hope his loved ones are able to find solace during this time.
Jerry was a gentle person and an exceptional player. Of Jerry, it was said, “His playing was excellent, his tone, pure. He sounded like a clarinet player should.”
Having been a longtime member, the ensemble was truly blessed by his participation. His talent and knowledge when it came to music was formidable. We are honored that he enjoyed playing with us so much it was considered his “favorite pass-time”.
Jerry was an avid sports fan. (Raise a hand for Manchester United!) He followed all of the local teams and would talk about players and statistics with enthusiasm. He always had a game he had to check on during rehearsals.
He loved to play Wordle and discuss strategy. He never missed a day. With his starting word, we appropriately bid him “adieu.”
May God comfort his family and friends among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
