It is with great sadness that I bring the news of the passing of Chuck Smith who passed away on March 26th, 2024. He was one of the original founders of Brentwood Concert Band. He brought humor, and joy, and most of all… music. We will miss him dearly.
Chuck was a loyal member, a constant in our rehearsals and concerts when his health would allow. A quiet man with a dry and quick wit. He loved circus music: loud and lots of trombones! Jazz as well: “One more… once more,” he’d yell as we come to the second ending of April in Paris in his best Count Basie imitation. His love for music was adamant and obvious. We have been so happy to have him with us these past few years, and we will miss him dearly.
Chuck outplayed us all until the very end.
